Kent Johnson, Ottawa County Sheriff booking mugshot
PORT CLINTON, OHIO — Today, Visiting Judge Robert Christiansen sentenced former Port Clinton Fire Chief Kent Johnson to 180 days in the Ottawa County jail for his assault conviction, and imposed community-control sanctions—including suspended jail and prison time—for Johnson’s convictions for
The case—State v. Johnson, Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas Case No. 2024-CR-I-165A—arose from a long-running campaign of sexual abuse and intimidation that Johnson is now convicted for having waged against Chandra Law client Rebekah Huskey-Archacki, a former Port Clinton firefighter/EMT and mother of two.
At the sentencing hearing, Ms. Huskey-Archacki gave a powerful victim-impact statement. She recounted the fear and trauma Johnson inflicted by serially sexually assaulting her (including digital penetration of her vagina and anus), stalking her, and hacking into her phone to steal intimate images. She recounted how he said he wanted to “break her back” with sex and “told me that if he had his way, I would be his sex slave.”
She described the toll his actions took on her life, her privacy, and her family.
During Kent Johnson's sentencing, Rebekah Huskey-Archacki tells the Court about the impact of Johnson's conduct.
Her statement to the Court from the full hearing can be heard here. The entire hearing is also available there.
Chandra Law managing partner Subodh Chandra, who stood by Ms. Huskey-Archacki’s side as she made her statement to the Court, issued the following statement:
Today, Rebekah Huskey-Archacki took a small sip from the cup of justice.
The court’s sentence sends a message that public officials—no matter how powerful or well-connected—are not above the law.
But a jail sentence alone cannot undo the immense harm Ms. Huskey suffered.
We are proud to represent Ms. Huskey in her continuing quest for full justice—through both this criminal process and her federal civil-rights lawsuit now pending in federal court.
We will keep fighting to hold Kent Johnson and the City of Port Clinton fully accountable for Johnson’s appalling abuse of power as fire chief and for the severe damage he—and those others in the fire department who retaliated against Ms. Huskey-Archacki for her whistleblowing—inflicted on her.
And we welcome any information about the City's and Johnson's culpability in this matter.
The Chandra Law Firm represents Ms. Huskey-Archacki in her ongoing federal civil-rights lawsuit against Johnson and other officials for violations of her constitutional rights, including illegal searches and seizures, unconstitutional sex discrimination in violation of the 14th Amendment’s equal-protection clause, sexual harassment in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, First Amendment retaliation, violations of the Ohio Civil Rights Act, civil liability for criminal acts, and other abuses of power.
The lawsuit alleges that Johnson used his authority as fire chief to carry out a pattern of sexual harassment and assaults, intimidation, surveillance, and theft aimed at silencing and controlling her.

Rebekah Huskey in happier days as a firefighter/EMT. It was her dream job until Kent Johnson's crimes and retaliation from co-workers drove her out.
