CLEVELAND, OHIO — The bereaved mother of the late Tamir Rice, who was 12 years old when he was fatally shot by Cleveland police officers on November 22, 2014, will hold a press conference with her counsel to express dismay at the conduct of the Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney's office in its purported "criminal investigation" of the officers. The investigation has lasted eleven months. At 8 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2015, the prosecutor released purported "expert" reports that ignored crucial facts and were skewed in favor of exonerating the officers. Subsequent media reports revealed the writers' questionable backgrounds and the procedural irregularity of the prosecutor's conduct.
Ms. Rice and her counsel will discuss the prosecutor's behavior, the taint placed upon the process, and the diminished prospect of obtaining criminal justice for Tamir. They will also call for the Prosecutor's Office to step aside and for a special prosecutor to be appointed.Click HereRice-Ltr-to-Prosecutor-McGinty-10-16-15-00229682x9CCC2.pdf to read letter to Prosecutor McGinty
